Real Time Mapping System (RTMS)

RTMS© (Real Time Mapping System) is a software package that allows ground-based personnel to view the received video images alongside a moving map display showing the position and track of the transmitting camera platform (from car, aircraft or boat). The system works either in real time as signals are received or can be used with previously recorded GPS encoded audio/video footage for ‘post-operation’ analysis.

The software is designed to operate on a PC or laptop and uses industry-standard Moving Map principles. Most map formats can be utilised; either previously digitised maps that might already be in use or by using Google Earth© type mapping

The live time (or recorded) GPS data is conveyed with the video using the audio channels associated with the link – either analogue or COFDM digital. FSK encoded GPS data are inserted as audio tones into the audio channel and on receiving are converted by the RTMS© audio decoding software to usable position data for plotting on the map. Other GPS features such as time and date, speed, course over ground etc., together with position and altitude are available for use as desired.

By addition of the Navtech GPS-FSK encoder GPS NMEA messages can be conveyed by standard audio channels (or recorded) and decoded in real time by RTMS.
