Linking video images from ground based cameras to airborne surveillance aircraft is now simply achieved by the Navtech Systems COFDM digital video Up-Link system. Using the latest digital video techniques the images are transmitted upwards to the airborne receiver for observation or onward relay to a command centre.
Standard format PAL or NTSC video signals can be observed using conventional monitors and relayed by multiplexed analogue or digital down link transmission systems.
The miniature lightweight transmitter rated at 1 watt will enable camera image transmissions in excess of 10 Km to be achieved. The receiver utilises maximal ratio combining dual diversity techniques to enhance signal reception from direct and multipath signals.
Installation of the receiver on the aircraft is straightforward with the two antennas mounted underside on the bracket provided. For onward transmission a two channel multiplexer is include that combines the aircraft camera with that of the up-linked images for simultaneous transmission via the down link systems. Power from the aircraft bus ensures simplicity of operation.
